Getting married is not only  big step but also an exciting time!

 

We want to give an outline of the essential requirements, (with Bible references) for conducting a wedding at Bethesda Chapel.  More information is available upon request.

 

Whilst modern culture has evolving definitions of marriage, we believe as Christians that it is God alone who has the ultimate authority to prescribe and describe the marital relationship, as given in God’s word, the Bible.

Genesis 2 v 24, Matthew 9 v 1-9. Mark 10 v 1-12)

Because of this understanding, we will only host and recognise marriages at Bethesda Chapel that meet the biblical definition, that we regard as being:

A covenant relationship between one gender-normative man and one gender-normative women.

For Christians there is one other restriction:

We will not marry a Christian to a non-Christian; A Believer should only marry another Believer.

(You do not need to be a member of Bethesda,  but will need to be a committed Christian whose beliefs align with our Statement of Faith as shown on this web site.)

On the basis of your meeting the above criteria, we would love to serve you during the process of planning for your wedding in Bethesda! 

Please do contact us if you would like to receive more information. This includes  checking available dates and the availability of a registrar, who will officiate at the wedding. You may also wish to discuss practical matters such as  music, flowers etc! Meeting legal requirements  prior to your marriage are of course  also your responsibility to  have in place well before the wedding!

Please note that all couples will be required to complete a ‘Marriage Preparation Course’, (5 sessions in total) before your marriage in Bethesda, which will be arranged by the Church Elders.
